House In The Woods

(Kevin Mileski)
2003
Kevin Mileski
In a little town with
no all-night coffee places
They all pass through
with their dashboard faces.

The little stones harass the walkers
with the hardest falls
While the loudes calls
define the talkers.

Moonlight beams through
the last remembered steeple.
Open up your hands
That's all, right you'll see all the people.

I will miss you in my own way you know better than myself
I'll meet you in the house in the woods
the one I built with my own hands
Perhaps if you could come back soon
Perhaps if you'd step in
Then forever wouldn't come that soon.
I miss you some way.

Have we honestly lost the missing link
The one that gave us time to think
The one that let us have a drink
without rushing our sorry butts home.

Some will sit in cigar bars
with their minds erased from where they are
Some choose to pass their time
all absolved of all they've done.

I will miss you in my own way you know better than myself
I'll meet you in the house in the woods
the one I built with my own hands
Perhaps if you could come back soon
Perhaps if you'd step in
Then forever wouldn't come that soon.
I wish you'd stop in.

I will miss you in my own way you know better than myself
I'll meet you in the house in the woods
the one I built with my own hands
Perhaps if you could come back soon
Perhaps if you'd step in
Then forever wouldn't come that soon.
I wish you'd stop in.
